The last 11 years have been the hottest years ever recorded. Earth’s energy imbalance has reached its highest than at any time in observed history, with heat reaching deeper into the ocean. This is the Global #StateOfClimate 2025.

The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) published its latest monthly Climate Bulletin, focusing on key climate trends in March 2026.
The bulletin reported that March 2026 was the fourth-warmest March globally, with an average surface air temperature of 13.94°C, which was 1.48 °C above the estimated pre-industrial level (1850–1900).





The numbers are in for March 2026, and they continue a worrying trend.

The European State of the Climate 2025 report is out, showing that Europe - like many regions worldwide - is increasingly exposed to serious climate impacts and consequences.
Rapid warming is reducing snow and ice cover, while extreme temperatures, droughts, heatwaves and record ocean warming are affecting us all and putting ecosystems at growing risk.
The report confirms that Europe has warmed twice as fast as the global average over the past 30 years, making it the fastest-warming continent on Earth.

Highlights:

April 2026 was the joint third-warmest April globally.

Average sea surface temperature was the second-highest on record for April across the extra-polar oceans.

Arctic sea ice extent was the second-lowest recorded for April, while Antarctic sea ice remained below average.

Much of western and central Europe was drier than average in April 2026, while easternmost and southeastern Europe saw above-average precipitation.

With El Niño conditions expected to develop in the coming months, April 2026 saw the second highest sea surface temperatures (SSTs) on record for the extra-polar oceans – between latitudes 60°S and 60°N – as reported in the latest Climate Bulletin by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). The month saw record high SSTs across large parts of the tropical Pacific associated with strong marine heatwaves.
